IAIN DIACK believes his side should have won by three or four in their goalless draw with Bo’ness United.

The Beachwood Park club dominated the game from start to finish but just couldn’t find a way past the stubborn rearguard.

It’s the first time Diack’s side have failed to score in a league match this season, but the gaffer was full of praise for Sauchie’s display regardless.

He told Advertiser Sport: “We were absolutely brilliant and I think on another day it could have been three or four nil to us.

“We’ve hit the bar and the post and had so many chances.

“It was perhaps just a wee bit of bad luck as we just couldn’t quite put the game to bed.

“It’s not like us not to score and I think we have scored in pretty much every game this year, so I can’t be critical of the boys.

“We played so well across the pitch and knew Bo’ness were a real danger from set-pieces, but they caused us no problems.

“You do feel frustrated but I am really proud of my players today.

“Bo’ness would have been looking at that game and expected to come here and beat us.

“But, they were lucky to escape with a draw and all in all I don’t think anybody could argue that we were the better team.”

Ross Crawford came closest for Sauchie as the striker hit the bar and then sent a header just inches wide.

Veteran defender Terry Hewitt saw red for a challenge and Diack raged that it should never have been a dismissal.

The boss said: “It was never a sending off and just an innocuous challenge.

“It was probably a yellow card and I just can’t see how the referee can give a straight red for it.”

Bo’ness were themselves reduced to ten in the dying minutes of the game after a foul on Ryan Millar.

And despite failing to find the back of the net, Diack praised the bravery shown by his side to create a hat full of chances.

He added: “I said to the boys after the game that a draw was not a fair result after the way they had performed.

“But, we can take massive plus points from it and I would rather my players were brave like that and tried to create chances in the right way.

“I won’t be critical of them and it was just one of those games where we had our moments but couldn’t find a way through.

“On another day I am sitting here talking and we have won three or four nil and I am gutted for the players as they deserved a win.”
