ALLOA fought back from behind for the second weekend in a row as they held relegation rivals Partick Thistle to a 2-2 draw on Saturday.

Much like in last week's draw at Falkirk, the Wasps fell behind, this time as Kris Doolan netted a penalty for the hosts.

Kevin Cawley levelled before a Blair Spittal wonder strike fired the hosts in front once again before half time.

The Wasps came back strong, however, with Dario Zanatta hitting the crucial equaliser with a drive midway through the second half.

Inside a Baltic Firhill, it was the hosts who had the game's first chance as Spittal worked his way into the box and forced Neil Parry into an unconvincing save.

Both teams were certainly doing their best to entertain the fans who had braved the chill and Cawley should have done better when the ball dropped to him from a corner in the six-yard-box. His tame effort did little to warm the gloves of Jamie Sneddon.

But it was Gary Caldwell's Jags who took the lead as Doolan made no mistake from the penalty spot after Jake Hastie needlessly brought down Christie Elliott.

The visitors had so far toiled but were soon level as the game in the terrible conditions suddenly sprang to life. Alan Trouten picked up a loose ball midway in the Thistle half and drove past a static back three before laying the ball on a plate for Cawley to tap home.

Out of nothing, we had an end to end game in Maryhill. First, Trouten was unlucky to be forced wide and lose the chance to shoot when in the box, before Parry sprung to his left to deny Spittal once more at the other end.

Alloa were playing fairly well and Dario Zanatta forced Sneddon into another save, but they soon found themselves behind again as the excellent Spittal finally got the better of Parry.

After he saw a free kick blocked by the wall, the winger unleashed an unstoppable 25-yard drive low into the bottom corner 37 minutes in.

Neither side were able to find the same level in the opening period of the second half and it took until the hour mark for the first real chance. Hastie initially did well to make space but dragged his shot well wide.

But, this was just a sign of things to come and less than two minutes later it was 2-2. It was always going to be a big game for Zanatta and the Canadian delivered as he picked up Iain Flannigan's pass outside the box and drilled it beyond a helpless Sneddon to finish off a lovely Alloa move.

Alloa were the only team who had turned up for the second half and sensed the chance to land a blow in the dogfight. A lovely interchange between Zanatta and Scott Taggart gave the fullback the chance to cut inside and force Sneddon into an excellent save.

Thistle had a half hearted shout for a penalty when it looked like Andy Graham might have touched the ball with his hand, but Alan Newlands waved away the angry home support's protests.

With the rain lashing down, the hosts upped the ante in the last ten in desperate search of three points, but Alloa stood firm to make it two points from two on the road.
