THE first jack was thrown at Patons and Baldwins Bowling Club as they officially brought in the new season.

As per tradition, the start of a new bowling season was officially launched with a gathering of all members at the club.

The members crowded at the bowling club as the president’s wife, Gillian Innes, was the first to throw the jack, carrying on a long tradition of season openers.

Gordon Dewar, member of Patons and Baldwins, expressed delight at the successful opening day and looked ahead to an exciting season for the club.

Speaking to the Advertiser, he said: “Everyone is excited for the new season. It’s been a long winter and it was a very poor start to the year because of the rain.

“Just to get back out there, we are ecstatic and can’t wait to get back playing.”

Patons and Baldwins Bowling Club, located on Alloa Road, was formerly the Patons and Baldwins club before it closed down.

In an effort to save the ground, some of the members pulled together and bought the changing rooms for the bowling club and refurbished it into the club. It has now grown to have a large membership.
