PJ MORRISON has extended his contract for another year at Alloa, admitting this has been his “most enjoyable” season of his career so far.

The Wasps number one has signed on for next season with the club, with his performances gaining plaudits in recent games.

The shot stopper made some hugely impressive saves against Cove Rangers to book Alloa’s place in the playoffs and has been behind some huge stops this season, not least of all the memorable penalty save against Motherwell in the Scottish Cup.

Morrison has been a reliable figure between the sticks all season since coming in from Falkirk in the summer.

Speaking to Advertiser Sport, Morrison talked about making the drop down from full-time football and loving life with the Wasps.

He said. “Coming down to part time was one of those decisions – it was difficult for me.

“But I couldn’t say I’ve enjoyed it enough, coming in every twice a week and playing every Saturday has probably been my most enjoyable season.

“I’m delighted to sign on next year and hopefully we can kick on.”

Morrison was at his very best against Hamilton on Saturday afternoon, making some big stops to deny the visitors.

He could do nothing about Kevin O’Hara’s winner, with the cross floating over his head and somehow making it into the goal.

Morrison reflected on the match, noting the positives and looking ahead to what is sure to be a very tight game in the playoff semi-final.

“It was a tough 90,” Morrison added. “We were expecting that but over the course of the game I thought we played well.

“They get a goal out of nothing in the first half, they didn’t threaten too much in the first half and I think we had a right good few chances.

“So to go in 1-0 down at half time was a bit disappointing, but, like we’ve done all season, we hang on and we try and create more chances but today just wasn’t the day.

“In the second half, there was a bit more balance but we still got the ball down and we still played but we just couldn’t get it over the line.

“We’ve held our own against them this year and we’ve had a couple positive results against them and there’s not much between the sides.

“We can take a lot of positives in getting a lot of boys minutes – Steven Hetherington’s not had a lot of minutes so for him to get 90 [is important]. And the same to Jon Robertson and Kevin Cawley as well.

“There’s a lot of those boys who haven’t played in a wee while so there’s a lot of positives to take from today.”
