THE Wasps claimed their first win of the new campaign after Adam Martin scored late on against Queen's Park.

Here's how the team rated on the day:

Neil Parry..................7

Not a lot to do for the big keeper, but made the saves he needed to make fairly comfortably and inspired confidence in his defence.

Scott Taggart...........7

Once again proved a difficult prospect for the Queen’s Park defence to handle. His pace caused problems and his crossing was good.

Callum Crane..........6

Didn’t get forward as much as Taggart on the other flank but did his job defensively and was solid enough.

Andy Graham..........7

Won everything in the air, which was an important battle for the Wasps in what was sometimes a scrappy game.

Daryll Meggatt...........6

Like Graham, was solid in the centre of defence and wasn’t afraid to play out from the back either.

Jon Robertson..........7

The midfielder has started the season in fine form. He was strong in the tackle and his passing was pinpoint.

Kevin Cawley............7

His work-rate on and off the ball is phenomenal. A constant menace to the Queen’s Park defence and threatened throughout.

Iain Flannigan...........7

A calm presence in possession, and always looked to create chances for the forwards. Unlucky not to score when he was denied by a great save.

Craig Malcolm............6

Wasn’t able to add to his midweek double although he had a couple of chances. Picked up a silly booking for a clash off the ball.

Kris Renton............6

His team-mates are still getting used to the way he plays but he did win the majority of his aerial battles and held the ball up reasonably well.

Alan Cook.................6

Had an early chance to score but couldn’t take advantage. Replaced by Martin in the second half.

Steven Hetherington.........6

Added some bite to the midfield as Jim Goodwin made a change to the system which ultimately paid dividends.

Adam Martin.........8 (STAR MAN)

What an impact from the young winger. Only played 25 minutes but almost made an instant impact, before scoring a wonderful winner. Turned the game on its head and now a real contender for a starting place.
