LOAN star PJ Crossan is determined to be a success at Alloa after joining on a temporary deal from Celtic.

The striker has signed up until January, and is hopeful of becoming a Wasps hero during his time in the Wee County.

The youngster made his debut on Saturday and despite having to withdraw through injury towards the end, glimpses of his potential were evident.

Crossan told Advertiser Sport: "I'm really looking forward to my time here. I can't wait to play games against first-team players. It will be a great opportunity to test myself.

"I came off the bench a couple of times when I was at Dunfermline but, since I moved to Celtic, this is the first chance I've had to play top team football.

"I'm looking forward to fighting for my place in the team. I want to get into contention for a starting place.

"My main goal is obviously to play as much football as I can, while helping the team with as many goals and assists as I can manage.

"Hopefully I can make an impact and help the boys get into a position where they are pushing for promotion.

"There is a big step up from the development league because the games are a lot more physical. That's something I'm looking forward to. I want to test myself against physical, more experienced players and see how I get on."

Crossan faces between four and six weeks on the sidelines with a hamstring complaint, but still reckons he has what it takes to become a Wasps hero when he returns to the fold.

He said: "Hopefully the injury isn't too bad and I can get back into training soon. It is frustrating to have had to go off on my debut but I've got my fingers crossed I'm not out for too long.

"I'll go back to Celtic and do a bit of recovery work there, and hopefully that will help me get back in time to play some games and make a difference for the team.

"I want to score as many goals as I can to help the team into a position where they are fighting to go up."

Despite a poor start to the season, the youngster reckons Alloa can get back on track, and says the experience in the squad will give them a boost as they fight to climb the League One table.

Crossan added: "There are a lot of good, experienced players here. They know exactly what they need to do. It has been a difficult start to the season but they have what it takes to turn it round."
