Bomber finishes with triple trophy win

ALLOA Athletic midfielder Brown Ferguson was rewarded for his outstanding personal season by receiving three separate trophies.

The former Partick Thistle and Hamilton player, now in his second spell with the Wasps, had a nice surprise minutes before kick-off at the last match against Brechin City when coach Ronnie Scott presented him in the dressing room with the Players" Player of the Year award.

Within minutes of the final whistle Bomber was receiving another award - from Liam McIntosh of the Wasps Young Supporters Club.

The prizes kept coming for Brown and, at the after match party in the boardroom, club chairman Bobby Hopkins handed over the Club Player of the Year Trophy to the hard working midfielder.

Brown told Advertiser Sport, 'It was really nice to receive these trophies and I am so grateful.

'In the case of the Young Supporters Award it came from a group of young fans who have been following us home and away.

'Around 20 or sometimes 30 youngsters travel to away games and our players know their loud cheering make a mssive difference at places like Ayr, where we got the result we needed.

'We had a whip-round among the players as a thank-you to the youngsters for their support which paid for the hire of their bus.

'It is always good to see more involvement between fans and players and we appreciate that.'

The Duffle Supporters player of the Year Trophy was awarded to forward Andy Scott. Well done to him too.

Looking to next term Brown said, 'I feel that despite a disappointing season we will improve in the new season.

'No team was streets ahead of us last season so I think we are moving in the right direction.

'Our aim is to try our hardest to improve,learn the lesson from our midtakes, have a positive and productive season with the minimum being a play-off place.'

But before that Brown is due to be admitted to Ross Hall Hospital in Glasgow in June for an operation on his knee and expects to be back in training soon after that.
