THE football season is hardly over and Alloa Athletic are thinking of the opening fixtures for the new programme starting on 25 July.

That Saturday date has paired the Wasps with Division 1 side Ross County,to be played at Victoria Park in the Alba Challenge Cup.

North East: Ross County v. Alloa, Peterhead v. Cowdebeath, Inverness v. Montrose, East Fife v. Forfar, Elgin City v. Brechin City, Stirling Albion v. Raith Rovers, Dunfermline v. Arbroath.

South West: Ayr United v. Albion Rovers, Stenhousemuir v. Clyde, Annan v. Queen"s Park, Dumbarton v. Morton, Airdrie United v. Partick Thistle, Queen of the South v. Livingston, Stranraer v. Berwick Rangers.

Alloa expect a hard game in the north. Ross County finished Division 1 in eighth position and will expect to improve on that this term.

When the Division 2 Programme commences Alloa will face promoted sides Dumbarton (Div. 2 champions), and Stenhousemuir.

Coming down from Division 1 are Airdrie United and Clyde.

    hazel in the case of a sporting teams like this it would never be "opens", that would jar with most listeners.

    And whilst you might not care about Clackmannanshire's finest there are plenty who do, Mon the Wasps!
