Scottish Cup goalscorer Mark Brown would love to add another goal to his tally when Wasps play Clyde this Saturday - possibly at the Recs
ALLOA Athletic manager Allan Maitland is calling on his players to build on their Scottish Cup performance at St Mirren and grab a third league win over Clyde this Saturday.
That's if the game goes ahead, though, as the Broadwood pitch is "solid" - and the Wasps are currently talking with Clyde about switching it to the Recs.
Everyone at Alloa is desperate for the game to the go ahead as the club has not seen league action in over a month due to the arctic weather conditions.
Maitland told the Advertiser Sport, "At the moment, Clyde's park is solid and we are looking into having the game switched to Recreation Park."
The Alloa gaffer said both sides will find it hard after the recent postponements and knows Clyde will be a different proposition this time around after appointing a new manager recently.
Maitland continued, "The Bully Wee are under new management, having appointed John McCormack. He's given them a lift since and is putting his stamp on the side by bringing in new signings John Stewart and Adam Strachan.
"There is no doubt that it will be a different game against Clyde, but every game in this league is."
Former Dundee and Morton manager McCormack - nicknamed Cowboy - was appointed last month after John Brown's spell in charge came to an end. He won his first game in charge, beating Arbroath, but then lost at Stenhousemuir.
The basement boys will be looking to get off the foot of the table by beating Alloa, but Maitland's men will believe they can rack up their third win of the season over the Bully Wee who have the second worst goal difference in the division.
Alloa have played well on their travels in the league this season, only losing two on the road, and know consistency is the key if they are to challenge for the title.
And Maitland says the squad can hold their heads high after Saturday's performance in Paisley and insists they must take that into the league campaign if they are to maintain a promotion challenge.
The Wasps are just four points behind Stirling and six points behind leaders Cowdenbeath as the campaign reaches the halfway point.
To give the club's challenge a boost, Maitland is busy trying to make additions to his squad.
He added, "I'm looking to bring in a left back in the next week or two as well as a new striker to the club."
