SUPER sub Craig Campbell hopes to add more to his tally after scoring his debut goal for Alloa Athletic.

The 27-year-old netted late on to give Wasps a share of the points against bottom-side East Stirling.

The prolific Highland League striker came off the bench with 20 minutes remaining to score the vital goal that kept Alloa's undefeated home record intact.

It was Campbell's first goal since moving to Alloa from Nairn County.

During two years at the Highland League side, the striker notched up 54 goals - including 36 last season.

While he was pleased with his debut goal, Campbell admitted he would have preferred the win.

He said, "It's great to get my first goal but at the end of the day I would rather we got the three points.

"We're hugely disappointed with the result. This was a chance to go level with Annan, which would have really put pressure on them."

Campbell will hope that the impact he made on the game on Saturday has impressed manager Paul Hartley.

The striker faces stiff competition for a place on the field, up against Wasps' top goalscorer Kevin Cawley, experienced Robbie Winters, and former Stranraer star striker Armand One. Cawley has netted seven times this season and is currently third highest goalscorer in the league.

Campbell said, "I'd like to be playing more and getting more goals so hopefully this one can spur me on to do that.

"I got 36 last season but some Highland League teams aren't great. I wasn't even the top goalscorer - Cameron Keith of Keith scored 40.

"I've not played a lot since I moved here - I've only started one game - but I want to build on this and help get the team to the top of the league."

Hartley blamed their 1-1 draw against East Stirling on too many players having an off-day.

Speaking after the match, he said, "We didn't play well as a team so we have to work on it. We are still undefeated at home but it could have been worse. It keeps the home record intact. We have to do better than that."

He will be hoping for improvements on Saturday as Alloa travel to Links Park to face Montrose.

The last time the teams clashed it was the Wasps that took all three points, in their 4-2 win.

Montrose come into the match looking for a league win; something that has eluded them since their victory over East Stirling in early November.
