ALLOA boss Paul Hartley has been delighted with the efforts of his players over the last few weeks of pre-season and reckons their hard work was evident in the game against Falkirk.

Hartley told Advertiser Sport, "It was a good game last Tuesday against Falkirk. Both teams played a high tempo, played some good football and I think it was an enjoyable game. I was delighted with the performance.

"I was delighted for some of the younger lads coming on and playing well. But I have been really pleased with the whole squad in general. I thought we looked solid, we looked really fit and we matched them well as they had a few first team players in the team. They are a very good team. I was pleased overall so things are shaping up nicely for us."

The Wasps boss was especially pleased with the performances of the younger players such as Connor Kelly in recent weeks and thinks that his squad is starting to gel together nicely.

Hartley added, "I thought young Connor Kelly did well when he came on, he has very good energy and can play in a number of positions for us. We were solid at the back tonight, our keeper didnt have a save to make the first half. Our two centre backs were good.

"Docherty did okay, he came in for Meggatt who is struggling with a virus. Michael Doyle missed out because of a calf strain but he should be ok for the next game. Our midfield was really strong and I thought big Grehan up front had a good game. I was also impressed with the energy of David Cox and Kevin Cawley too when he came on. We just need to keep it going now."

Meanwhile, the ex-Scotland internationalist was quick to quash any thoughts of him signing experienced defender Michael Hart to a deal at Recreation Park after he was a surprise trialist for the club in the match against Falkirk.

Hartley added, "Michael Hart came in tonight just to have a game and get his fitness up really."
