Alloa boss Barry Smith wants his side to keep up the momentum of their excellent recent run as they travel to face Livingston this weekend.

The Wasps go into the game full of confidence after a spell that has seen them rack up three wins from their last four games in all competitions including a famous 2-1 win over Hibs at Recreation Park a fortnight ago.

But the gaffer is well aware that the Lions will be a difficult test for his men at Almondvale Park and so he won't allow his squad to think any further ahead with the visit of Rangers to Clackmannanshire looming large on the horizon.

Barry Smith told Advertiser sport, "We must concentrate only on our next game against Livingston and I know the boys will be fully focused on the task at hand. We can turn our thoughts elsewhere after that. This will be another tough opponent for us because they are a similar side to ourselves in that they love to get the ball down and play. So that will make for an entertaining game of football and it is one that the players should look forward to playing in.

"Generally at this time of the year, the pitches are all good and Almondvale will be no different. It is important for us to keep our run going. That is the last three Saturday's on the bounce we have won and so we want to continue that this weekend."

Smith will once again be without summer signing David Weatherston who continues to struggle with injury. Meanwhile, keeper John Gibson returned to light training after being out for three weeks with a thigh injury and the Wasps boss admits his imminent return gives him a difficult decision to make with Craig McDowall having performed well in Gibson's absence.

He added, "John Gibson has done some light training as he continues his recovery and we will give him every chance to make the game. Having said that Craig McDowall has done everything right since coming in and he has given me a tough decision but it is one I will make nearer the time. I said to them both at the start of the season that it is up them to prove to me who the number one keeper is and they have certainly done that, both staked their claim and it is great to see them both keeping each other on their toes."
