Alloa Athletic came from a goal down to clinch a 2-2 draw at Ibrox against Rangers.

Wasps skipper Ben Gordon gave his side a shock lead with a superb glancing header from a Mark Docherty set play in the 53 minutes.

The light Blues response was swift as new boss Stuart McCall sacrificed a defender to send on David Templeton in search of an equaliser and it duly came on 72 minutes.

Dean Shiels 20 yard strike was deflected onto the bar by Jason Marr, but Nicky Clark reacted quickest with the goalkeeper still down to nod the ball into empty net for 1-1.

There looked like being only one winner at this stage and the Alloa faithful must've thought the writing was on the wall when some terrific wing play then delivery by Tom Walsh was nodded home by the sharp Clark to put the hosts in front at 2-1 on 77 minutes.

Rangers tried to add to their tally, but Craig McDowall made a string of top saves to deny Nicky Law, Shiels and Daly in quick succession.

Mark Docherty and Ryan McCord exchanged passes before, the latter sent Liam Buchanan racing through on the keeper and he cooly chipped it over the advancing Cammy Bell to earn his side a shock point.

The Wasps fans got to see their new signing Michael Chopra for the final few minutes of the match, but it was there current heroes who grabbed the headlines with another big performance in Glasgow to move them out of the relegation zone in the SPFL Championship.
