Wasps boss Danny Lennon continued to rebuild his squad for the new season earlier this week after the club announced the double signing of former Rapid Bucharest star Catalin Paun as well as long-time target Omar Kader.

Romanian defensive midfielder Paun caught the gaffer’s eye during a recent trial period with the club which included a superb solo goal in the 4-3 win over Edinburgh City last week.

The former Forfar winger impressed his new boss with a stellar performance for the Loons against his men in the SPFL Championship playoffs back in May and now hopes he can play a starring role for the Wasps this term.

The gaffer is delighted with his new captures, but revealed that the club were inching closer to a few more arrivals.

Lennon told Advertiser sport: “I am delighted to add these two players and hopefully there is a few more to come towards the end of the week all going well. We have a few things in the works at the moment and hopefully we can get those done in the next few days.

“Omar is a great addition for us and Alloa fans who watched the playoff won’t need me to tell them about his blistering pace. He is a player who has the potential to have a high impact on each game with his creativity, pace and finishing.

“Catalin is player who can do both sides, he can pass and dribble as we saw with his fantastic solo goal against Edinburgh, but he can also make a tackle and break up play as well so I think he is an important addition.” The duo’s arrival meant the total number of additions at Alloa in the last seven days reached four after the capture of promising Celtic duo Conor McManus and Michael Duffy, who caught Lennon’s eye during his tenure with the Scotland Under 21s, and he hopes they will be exciting additions to his squad.

He said: “I am thrilled to acquired the services of two quality players on loan from Celtic. I managed watch these lads play a few times for Celtic’s Under 20s during my tenure with the Scotland U21s and I was highly taken with the two of them so it is great to bring them to Alloa. Conor is holding midfielder who is a threat with his passing ability and is superb at breaking up the opposition’s play so he will be a welcome addition to that area for us. Michael has great experience for a player of his age. He scored goals in the Irish league and in Europe for Derry City. Celtic have a great belief in him with four years left on his contract and I do as well so will make a positive contribution here at Alloa and is player who will excite the fans.” GET THE FULL INTERVIEW IN THIS WEEK'S PAPER
