BROWN Ferguson is hoping his Scottish Cup double against Raith Rovers will inspire his team to produce some better results in the League campaign.
The Alloa Athletic skipper, now in his second spell with the Wasps, was so happy to hit two valuable second half goals in last Tuesday"s third round replay which sets up another home tie in the fourth round against Aberdeen.
Bomber said, 'To beat Raith was a fantastic result and I am delighted for the club and the supporters. We have not had a lot to cheer about recently so the victory certainly sets us up for a home tie against Premier League opposition and I am looking forward to this.
'I would think the Aberdeen game will bring the biggest crowd at The Recs for a number of years and a really big home support.
'I am looking forward to this and I think we will go into it with no fears. I see it as a great opportunity to do someting for our club.'
Speaking about his precious double late in the match the midfielder was so happy. He said, 'My first goal came when we were down 1-0 and pushing a few players forward. John Grant did well to whip in a cross with Andy Ferguson heading against the post.
'I gambled again, ran on to it and thankfully tucked it away into the net. Our tails were up after that which brought the winning goal. After Jamie Stevenson was pulled down, I sent over the Free kick. I saw my chance again and tried to hit the target so was delighted when the ball went into the net off the bar.
'I have scored a couple of doubles in my career before but it was fantastic to score twice in the cup.'
The midfielder added, 'We are playing a lot better now so we merited being at least level, but winning was great.'
But Bomber"s thoughts at this time also go to other fixtures. He said, 'Before the cup-tie we have a few hard League games but I see beating Raith as hopefully a big kick-start to our season.
'I hope we are able to move up the League because we are now showing high levels of energy which makes us look more solid.
'We really should have got something fom the East Fife game because we had commitment and effort. We should be able to take confidence from the Raith Rovers game and push on because we should not be in the League position we are in at the moment.
'We need points which can put us up the Division 2 table.'
