ALLOA could face a tricky fixture at Hampden Park on Saturday when they meet Queen"s Park.
The Amateurs put up a tremendous fight against Celtic in the Homecoming Scottish Cup at the weekend.
Trailing 2-0 at the interval, Queens hit back with a goal from former Wasp Adam Coakley, who was later sent off, but couldn't quite find an equaliser.
This kind of commitment has given manager Gardner Speirs a lift as he prepares his side to face Alloa.
With two wins over the Wasps earlier this season, Queens want to show their spirit against Celtic means they are a good side.
Alloa"s victory against Ayr, meanwhile, came at a price. There are injury worries about several players.
Brown Ferguson limped off in 77 minutes and must be doubtful for the weekend.
The former Partick Thistle midfielder suffered a couple of niggling injuries but hopes to overcome this by the weekend.
He told the Advertiser, 'I injured my knee, hand and head but should be OK within a couple of days.
'Hopefully our injuries will clear up for Saturday because we need to pick up points from away games."
Kyle Macaulay took a calf knock and defender Chris Townsley has a back injury.
Andy Scott missed the Ayr match because of a tendon problem in his knee, but is recovering. Front man Andy Ferguson called off hours before the Ayr match but could be in the pool on Saturday.
Better news comes from defender David McClune.
He said this week, 'My hamstring injury is getting better, I have been training and should be fit for Hampden and I am looking forward to the match."
Alloa manager Allan Maitland now wants to follow the Ayr victory with another one.
He said, 'I was so pleased to win the points and I hope players like Brian Carrigan can help drag us up the table.
'I was pleased for Dougie Hill winning the man of the match but I felt Carrigsn and Stuart Noble gave us something quite different from recent weeks and I am sure there is a catalyst in that.
'Our away record is abysmal and that needs to change. We don"t want to be one of the three teams at the bottom."
Maitland added, 'Our on loan player from Airdrie, Stuart Noble, has one match left with us but I want to extend it after the Queen"s Park game and have him back here.'
