Raith Rovers 3 v 1 Alloa

ALLOA are only a point above the relegation play-off position after losing to a Raith side who spent the majority of the game reduced to ten men.

It was the third consecutive league defeat for Maitland's men and leaves the Wasps facing a battle to remain in the Second Division.

Iain Campbell gifted the Fifers the lead when he sliced the ball in to the path of Kevin Smith who took full advantage and slotted home.

Nine minutes before the break Rovers player Stephen Simmons was sent off for a second yellow after fouling Dougie Wilson.

And Alloa took advantage just after the hour mark when Brown Ferguson levelled with a well taken free-kick.

But instead of kicking on and picking up all three points Alloa capitulated and lost two late goals and the game.

With 20 minutes remaining Smith restored the home team's lead when he smashed home Marvin Andrew's cross.

Smith then turned goal provider in injury time when he played the ball to Graham Weir who made no mistake from close range.

Wasps gaffer Allan Maitland said, 'We are very much aware of the fact that we are in a relegation struggle now and a relegation fight.'
