East Fife 0 v Alloa 2
ALLOA took a massive step towards avoiding the nightmare of a relegation play-off with a well deserved win at East Fife.
On loan striker Stuart Noble played his last game for the Wasps, but not before signing off with a priceless strike.
With 20 minutes on the clock Gary Carroll played the ball to Noble and he took on his man before driving the ball home.
10 minutes later it was two when Andy Scott converted from the spot after Brown Ferguson was brought down by Kevin Fotheringham.
Maitland's men continued to take the game to the Fifers and Noble almost made it three early in the second period but his effort was brilliantly stopped by keeper Michael Brown.
The victory means Alloa go into Saturday's fixture at home against fellow strugglers Queen's Park with a four point advantage over the Glasgow club.
Allan Maitland said, 'We had more energy and drive with 'bomber' Ferguson and John Grant giving so much again. Stuart Noble has now left us but on a high having played well again.
"It was a very good day for us."
