Alloa 3
Brechin 2
ALLOA finished a poor campaign on a high after fighting off a second half City comeback to win by the odd goal in five.
Maitalnd's men seemed to be on easy street after going two goals up in the opening 30 minutes but Brechin scored twice in two second half minutes to level the game, before Andy Scott's late Wasps winner.
Alloa got off to a flier when 16-year-old striking sensation Greig Spence ran on to a Scott pass before coolly rounding veteran stopper Craig Nelson and knocking the ball into the empty net.
Stephen Ettien nearly levelled shortly afterwards but his low sizzler came back off the post and the chance was gone.
Spence doubled the Wasps lead after 27 minutes when he found space inside the box and with the composure of a seasoned professional slotted the ball under the diving Nelson.
With 20 minutes left to play, though, the visitors were right back in this game after Ettien drilled the ball into the back of the net from close range.
Two minutes later the game was all square after a freakish blunder by home keeper Ray Jellema gifted Jim Duffy's men an equaliser.
But Scott sent the Alloa fans home happy when he rose inside the six yard box with minutes remaining and bulleted a header past Nelson to give the home side all three points.
At full-time Wasps gaffer Allan Maitland said, 'It was important for us to win today, last game of the season, finish on a high, go and enjoy your summer.'
