Clackmannan wicket keeper Greg Taylor finds the ball is just out of reach.

In an unusually tense game at The Arns on Saturday Clackmannan County 1st XI managed to make heavy weather of the fixture - but still came out with a narrow win.

Falkland initially struggled against some accurate bowling from the Clackmannan 'quicks' which left them in the 90s with eight wickets down.

However the Falkland tail enders managed to put on more than 50 runs to allow Falkland to finish on 150 all out.

Best of the bowlers for Clackmannan was Craig Black with 4 for 30 in ten overs.

Clackmannan got off to a shaky start with both Richard Passe (2) and Craig Black (0) back in the hutch in short order.

Fortunately the Clackmannan middle order fired, with Keith Hefer (29), Dave Watkins (29) and Alan Oliver (37) stabilizing the innings, putting Clackmannan within touching distance of a result.

Greig Taylor (10) then Rizwan Ashraf (13 not out) and James Cox (3 not out) saw the game through to a final Clackmannan total of 151 for 8 wickets.

This Saturday the first XI travel to Murrayfield DAFS in Edinburgh to continue their chase for the division title, hopefully managing to avoid the side show which marred this week game.
