Alloa Rugby Club are launching a new S1/S2 side with training officially starting at Earlsfield this Sunday at 10am.
The Sunday sessions will be held in conjunction with the club’s mini rugby section that had a record turn-out at their opening session last weekend.
The idea behind the Sunday training is to allow an easy transition from the mini-section and will ensure there will be good cluster of coaches and helpers on hand to conduct the training.
The launch of the S1/S2 section is a natural progression for the Alloa Club which faced closure two seasons ago.
The senior side was resurrected in season 2008/09 and remarkably won the Caledonian Division Two title at the first attempt.
A huge amount of work and investment has gone into the Earlsfield pitches, clubhouse and surrounds over the past year and the facility is now ready to accommodate a real growth in the junior section.
Over the past five years the Alloa Junior Section has produced five Scotland Age Group caps in Kevin and Glenn Bryce, Stuart Edwards, Sean Kennedy and Grant Gilchrist.
All five have returned recently to the club to offer their services in coaching and encouraging the new generation of Alloa rugby players.
There is also a strong team in place with Graham Simpson and Neil Leeson supporting the local Club Development Officer, Craig Bolan.
Any boys or girls of S1/S2 and primary school age-groups are welcome to attend on Sunday morning.
For more information, parents can contact club president Jim Gove, telephone 01259 217501 or 07801 059754.
There are also changes to the current Clackmannanshire Youth set-up at under-18 and under-61 level where separate communications are being sent out.
However coaching will still be available as before at 7pm on Tuesdays and Thursday at Earlsfield from coaches Willie Duncan and Jim Boyd.
