CLACKMANNAN County 1sts finished the cricket season on a high as they beat Largo by six wickets last weekend.

Clacks, who had already secured their Division two status for another year, had to start the game without skipper Noor Jhangir and opening bowler Rizwan Ashraf as the pair arrived 20 minutes late.

Greig Taylor stood in as skipper and asked Largo to bat on a soft wicket after winning the toss.

Blair Campbell and Tariq Mehboob opened the bowling for Clackmannan and with only nine fielders to work with they managed to contain the Largo batsmen.

Rintoul was having some success driving Mehboob straight down the ground to the boundary but as Clackmannan reached their full complement of fielders, his aggressive nature was to be his downfall as he mishit a long hop from Mehboob to cover and departed for 23.

The hosts were 33 for 1 after 10 overs at which point Jhangir and Rizwan came into the bowlong attack and the latter had an instant impact, knocking the off stump out of the ground to send the remaining opener to the clubhouse for seven.

Largo batsmen three and four put on a 50-run stand before Rajagopel was caught out from Mehboob's bowling.

After 30 overs Largo were on 102 for 3 and well placed to push on and post a score of over 200, but a great spell of tight bowling from Blair Campbell, Chris Priddle and Jhangir meant that only 19 runs were scored in the next 10 overs.

Campbell saw Brown caught behind for 32 before Warrender (31) and Anderson (32) made good contributions to the Largo total.

More wickets fell as the innings closed out and Largo ended on 169 for 8.

Mehboob and Elliot McMahon opened the Clackmannan batting and the former hit three of his first four balls over the boundary.

He was caught out on the fifth ball for 12 though before Ash Rasul helped the score to 50 from 10 overs.

Three more Clacks wickets would fall in quick succession before Jhangir and Chris Priddle came to the crease with the score at 55-4.

Jhangir hit ten fours and Priddle hit eleven as they finished on 56 and 60 respectively, giving Clackmannan victory in the 34th over to finish the season on a high.
