Sauchie move into the second round of the DFM (Fife and Lothians) cup with this win over a hard working South division side last Saturday. This was their fourth away game on the trot and their fifth consecutive away win, a cracking run of results.

There was no Gary McCulloch, Chris Purdie, Mark Morrison or Collin Samuel to choose from with Fraser Duncan re-jigging his side. Steven Kiczynski partnered Jon Tully in the centre of defence with Graeme King and Iain Syme filling the full back berths. Adam Bonar made the starting eleven with David Winters playing through the middle.

Sauchie took the game to Rosyth from the start when a Morgan cross forced Kevin Smith to punch the ball off the head of Adam Bonar. Winters then sent a teasing ball in from the left with Tully just failing to get a touch.

The keeper then blocked a Morgan drive then regained his position quickly to deny a second attempt by the Rosyth no 6. Smith was being kept busy and saved another Morgan attempt as Sauchie looked for the opening.

A quick break away took Rosyth to the other end. Alan McDonough wandered through the middle of the Sauchie defence but with Bryn Halliwell to beat he toe poked over.

Sauchie made the breakthrough in 21 minutes. A Cummings corner was cleared as far as Tony Stevenson with his drive being blocked as far as Bonar who calmly stepped inside and sent the ball into the opposite top corner.

The home side were soon levelwhen Alan McDonough scored from close range.

Two minutes later Rosyth were in front. McDonough was awarded a penalty after being upended by Halliwell diving at his feet and he made no mistake from the spot.

Sauchie upped their game and got the leveller just before half time.

Bonar sprinted down the left with his low cross being smacked into the net by Winters from just inside the six yard box.

Cummings then tested the keeper and Kiczynski headered over the bar from excellent position. Sauchie regained the lead in 58 minutes. A Cummings short corner was hooked into the box by Stevenson and the home defence struggled to clear with the ball falling to Tully who poked home.

It was all Sauchie now with Stevenson and Syme opening up the home defence with quality through balls. Cummings sprang the offside trap and twice moved in on goal only to see Smith make super stops to deny the forward as the game ended 3-2 to Sauchie. Sauchie: Halliwell, King, Syme, Kiczynski, Tully, Stevenson, Morgan, Comrie (Carroll), Winters, Cummings, Bonar (Bonnes).
