THE men from Beechwood Park recorded their fifth win on the trot with a comprehensive win over newly promoted Armadale Thistle last weekend.

Fraser Duncan returned to a tried and tested starting eleven with Gary McCulloch and Collin Samuel starting with Iain Syme and Adam Bonar on the bench.

Tony Stevenson has taken control of the home midfield and it was one of his accurate long range passes that set Darren Cummings free in the box early on, with the ‘dale defence appealing for offside, but the striker dragged his shot across the goal and wide.

Collin Samuel, who was always tightly marked, made time and space to release David Winters and his effort brought Stewart Walker into action with a diving save.

The home side were playing lovely stuff until the final ball into the area eased the situation for Armadale. A Sauchie attack broke down when the ball cannoned off Stuart McLeod and landed at the feet of Scott Mauchline and he took two steps and fired at goal from 25 yards with the ball just carrying over.

As half time loomed Sauchie were awarded a free kick some 30 yards from goal. Brian Morgan let rip and Walker slid along his goal to fingertip past.

Armadale changed their style after the break with a more attack minded play. David Taylor was dictating the play and he found Robbie Feeney with a super pass leaving the striker in front of goal and forcing Bryn Halliwell to make a good save at his post.

Stevenson opened the visiting defence with an inch perfect pass into the feet of Winters who moved along the by line and cut back to Samuel and his miss hit drive was pushed onto the post from next to it by Winters.

Sauchie went in front in 70 minutes. Stevenson gathered the ball just inside the opposition half and dribbled forward before pushing wide to Cummings with his shot come cross being tapped into the net by Winters for his sixth goal in seven games.

The visitors lifted their heads and pushed forward looking for a leveller. Lewis Milton moved quickly down the right flank with his cross finding Taylor and from excellent position he lifted his shot high over.

Adam Bonar replaced Winters and his first touch in 83 minutes was to knock home a Cummings square pass to ensure the three points stayed at Beechwood Park.

Sauchie: Halliwell, McCulloch, Kiczynski (Syme), King, Tully, Stevenson, Morgan, Comrie, Samuel (Bonar), Cummings, Winters (Bonnes).
