Sauchie Juniors ............................ 1 Fauldhouse United ....................... 0 On Saturday Sauchie were hosts to Fauldhouse United in a Superleague match. Sauchie had finished the match on Wednesday with ten men this time it was going to be the visitors that ended the game a man down.

Gary Currie and Bruce McAdam came into the starting line up with Iain Syme and Ant McTaggart moving onto the bench.

Sauchie made a brisk start when Brian Morgan lifted the ball forward allowing Conor Kelly to move forward and chip the advancing keeper but past the post. Kelly then made it to the by line and cut back, with Kevin Ross clearing the danger as Ryan Millar lurked.

The Hoose pushed forward with a Ross Donnelly cross being headered at goal by Brian Ross and clutched by Ross Harkness.

Another Donnelly cross from the right was nodded on by Mark Aitken to the unmarked Michael Browne with his shot being saved superbly by Harkness.

The keeper then blocked a Gary Fallon blast as the visitors took control. Browne then had his crisp drive saved by Harkness.

Currie brought Sauchie forward with Morgan and McAdam linking well, with Currie stabbing the ball inches over. A short corner allowed Miller to tee up Gary McCulloch with his shot being blocked by the diving Andy Murphy.

Then there was controversy. Morgan stabbed the ball forward with the ball passing Kelly who appeared to be in an offside position but did not make a move towards the ball and Currie ran through from deep to place the ball into the corner of the net. No goal said Mr Bell with the assistant referee standing with his flag raised.

Sauchie kept up the pressure and a Morgan inswing corner came out after hitting the junction of bar and post.

The home side were playing lovely stuff with the Fauldhouse chasing wearily until it reached the visitors goal area and confidence slipped and ideas ran out letting Sam Watson and Kevin Ross tidy up.

United broke quickly from defence to attack with Brian Ross slipping the ball to Clark Campbell who fired inches over. Then a long clearance by Murphy allowed Aitken to go one on one with Harkness with the keeper sticking out a leg to deny.

An Alan Lawson cross the left was headed home by Donnelly only to be scratched for offside.

With seven minutes remaining along came the all-important goal. Stuart Love chased the ball with Murphy sliding out of the box wide on the left to trip the man in red.

Free kick awarded and a straight red for the keeper. Morgan swung the free to the far post and met by the head of Reece Boyle and in at the post.

Fauldhouse upped their game and took it to Harkness who was having a super display between the sticks for the home side. Between him and the defence of Jordan Tapping, Dolan and Boyle there was no way through for the visitors.

Sauchie: Harkness, McCulloch, Boyle, Dolan, Tapping, Morgan, Currie (McTaggart), Morrison, Kelly (Love), Millar, McAdam (Bonnes).
