Alloa Manager Danny Lennon and his first team players gave their stars of tomorrow a VIP send off as the youngsers prepare to represent Scotland in the Coalfields Home Internationals against England and Wales.

Alloa Wasps 2000, the club’s under-16 development team, earned the right to wear the coveted Scotland strip by winning the Coalfields Community Cup.

Now they are preparing for an all-expenses paid trip to Wales, where they will play in a tri-nation international against teams from English and Welsh coalfield areas alongside Grange from East Ayrshire, Scotland’s other qualifier.

Alloa Manager Danny Lennon said: “Everyone at Alloa FC is immensely proud of these young lads, and we’re backing them all the way.

“All our development teams work really hard on their game, and its great to see them being rewarded for their efforts.

“It’s an immense honour to represent you country, and I am sure they will do themselves, Alloa FC and Scotland proud”.

Wasps 2000 player Stephen Gallagher said: “It was great to meet Mr Lennon and the first team players, and pick up some tips from them.

“We are all really thrilled at the chance of representing Scotland and Alloa FC couldn’t have given us a better send-off”.

Pauline Douglas, the Coalfields Regeneration Trust Head of Operations Scotland, said: “Alloa FC take real pride in their commitment to the local community and giving these youngsters a VIP send off is a good example of that.

“You can see how excited the youngsters are at playing for Scotland and the Coalfields Regeneration Trust is delighted to be part of what will be a wonderful experience for them, win lose or draw”.

The Coalfields Home Internationals, featuring two teams each from coalfields communities of England, Scotland and Wales will be played at Merthyr Town FC’s Pennydarren Park in South Wales over the weekend of August 21-23.
