Clackmannan entertained West Lothian II for their final game of the season with an outside chance of claiming the title.

West Lothian won the toss and elected to bat but the openers found scoring difficult due to the metronomic accuracy of Hefer and Ashraf who both claimed a wicket in their opening spell to leave the visitors on 17 for 2.

There was no change when Javed and Silva were introduced into the attack with score progressing slowly to 43 for 4 after 20 overs. Clackmannan entertained thoughts of bowling West Lothian out for under 75 but McNab who made a valiant 29 and young Blumski put on a partnership of 36 until the latter fell for 18 to Alamgir.

With their fall the West Lothian tail quickly subsided to 99 all out in 37 overs. Their batsmen struggled to deal with a wicket that had some pace and bounce with the Clackmannan slips standing almost 20 paces back when Silva was in full flight.

Another strong bowling performance from the strongest attack in the league as shown by the number of wickets taken. Ashraf and Silva having 28 and Hefer with 29, all three with an average per wicket of below 10.

Clackmannan were very confident of chasing down a very below par total and got off to a rapid start with Mehboob hitting 12 off the first over but he was not to go on as he fell in the next over to leave the score at 21 for 1.

Hefer then took up the challenge hitting consecutive straight drives for 4, a real strength of his all season.

After Rasul fell for 2 in the ninth over, it was left to Silva to show how to construct an innings. He always looked to have time to play his shots, placing good balls into gaps for singles and driving and pulling balls that were too full or short to the boundary.

It looked like this partnership would see Clackmannan home but Hefer was well caught at mid off for 32.

Silva then decided to finish the game in a hurry by hitting consecutive sixes to see Clackmannan home in only 18.4 overs and the loss of 3 wickets. Silva finishing on 43 not out in only 34 balls with 3 boundaries and 2 sixes.

A fitting finish to an excellent season where Clackmannan only missed winning the title by 0.33%. Parkside Man of the Match goes to Hefer for 2 for 14 with the ball and 32 with the bat.

Clackmannan look forward to playing in Division 1 next season and welcome any cricket enthusiasts of any age or ability to pop down to the Arns to take part in further success next year.
