Alloa boxing fans were treated to a great night of amateur boxing at a packed Alloa Town Hall on Friday night.

The evening got off to a great start with Alloa's Harry Forsyth winning in a closely contested bout against the more experienced Jack Stevenson, from Hillpark.

Robbie Jack, of Alloa, then produced a good display to win over John Smith, of Granite City.

Jamie Smith was next to represent the host club and boxed well in his bout, but lost on points to the stronger Lewis Davie, of Dunfermline.

Alloa's Brandon Brown maintained his 100 per cent record by producing his best performance yet, securing a unanimous points victory over Holyrood's Ryan Love.

Three Alloa boxers made their debuts in the ring with Gavin Alexander, Connor Smith and Gregor Sneddon all in action for the first time.

Although all three lost by narrow margins, they all gave a good account of themselves and will learn from the experience.

Visiting boxers Ryan Hamilton, Kev Ballantyne, Paul Greenhorn and Elliot O'Donnell produced two well matched bouts, with Ballantyne and Greenhorn winning on points.

Alloa's boxing brothers John and Kris Whyte were up against tough and awkward opponents.

Kris, coming back from a two-year lay-off, lost narrowly to Paddy McGowan on points.

John had to use his experience to secure a points win against his much taller opponent James Manders, of Granite City.

Alloa's Superheavyweight David Theus secured a second round stoppage victory over Jordan Ewing (Hillpark).

Ewing was unable to beat the count after Theus had landed a solid right hook.

The 2009 Scottish Middleweight champion, Alloa's Darin Reid, produced an excellent display to outbox 2010 Eastern District Champion Lewis Akinlami unanimously on points.
