Tillicoultry GC The club had a large turnout for their senior open with visitors from far and wide in blustery condition scoring was difficult especially in the afternoon however the condition of the course made up for the weather principal winners where as follows SECTION A: JOHN NEILSON 66 TILLY, ALISTAIR BROWN 67 TILLY BIH, IAN CARMICHAEL ALLOA 67.

The evening saw a very good turn out of ladies with some good scores returned. After an enjoyable round the ladies continued their social event with a meal a in the clubhouse followed a presentation to the winners - Traceyanne Whitelaw and Lesley McCallum and to the runners-up - Lorna Edwards and Margaret Stevenson.

Gents It was the majority trophy stableford competition at the weekend at alloa last weekend. Andy Forbes came out on top with 43 points closely followed by Walter Rennie on 41 and Barry Paterson on 40.

Results Saturday Division 1: 1st A Forbes 43 pts, 2nd W Rennie 41 pts, 3rd B Paterson 40 pts Club championship finals day report On sunday it was the club championship finals, the golf course was in perfect condition and the standard of golf did not disappoint the spectators who turned out to show their support.

Aaron Paterson is the 2015 club champion after defeating Phil Hendry 2&1, Aaron, last years beaten finalist, was on great form in the morning leading 4up after 18 holes. In closely fought afternoon session, Phil fought back before narrowly loosing out in a tense finale. Bill Downs won the second division championship with a well earned victory over defending champion Les Nimmo. Margaret Frame won her 15th ladies championship in her 63rd year as a member of the club in beating isobel Rhind in a closely fought match. Ross Logan produced a great performance to claim the junior championship against Jamie McEwan in a low scoring and up and down match. The club would like to congratulate all those who played in the finals and to the referrees and caddies who helped out on the day.

Muckhart GC Neil Hill claimed Muckhart Golf Club’s strokeplay championship on Sunday 21 June, closing with a fabulous 6 under par 65 for a 72 hole total of 281, to win by 3 shots from James Barrett.

After the 2 round qualifying events last weekend, Neil’s total of 140 gave him a 4 shot lead over James Barrett with Ross White a further 1 behind. 12 qualifiers teed it up on Sunday for the final 36 holes and these three stayed well ahead of the field after round 3 despite a superb 71 from David Easton and 73s from Paul Frith and David Landsburgh.

In round 3 Neil shot a comparatively disappointing 76, allowing James to overtake him with a superb 70 to lead by 2 while Ross’s 72 closed him to 1 shot behind Neil and 3 behind James.

So in the afternoon it was all to play for in Round 4 with only 3 shots separating the leaders. James continued his good form with another 70, however Neil decided it was time to turn on the after burners and raced to the turn in a 5 under 30, before coming home in a 1 under 35 for a fabulous round and reclaiming the trophy he won in 2013.

Junior Championship: Cameron Brolly beat Harris Mcgrath in the junior championship final.

Ladies Handicap champion: Jennifer Ure beat Anne Ferguson.

Ladies Champion: Laura Bissett beat Sarah Walker to become the 2015 champion.

The club Captain Willie Crews thanked all the Braehead staff for their efforts and Ian Hamilton Catering for sponsoring the meals served after the presentation.

Duncan 86-17=68Acb, 3rd T.Carroll 84-15=69 The Gents Seniors next club competition, the Kieth Adams is on Wednesday 24 June. On Wednesday 17 June the seniors played King James V1 at Braehead, Braehead winning 51/2 to 21/2. Conditions were good and the competition fierce.

Winning through to decide the 2015 Club Champion it was Darren Hulston who defeated John McMillan with an onslaught of sub-par golf to win the trophy for a record sixth time.

The Divsion 2 match was a close run thing with Gordon Fenwick coming out on top to defeat Brian Miller on the 36th hole.
