LEANNE Ross and her Glasgow City FC team exited the Champions League in agonising fashion last night.
After back-to-back victories in group 7, the Clakmannanshire active schools coordinator's side were just one game away from reaching the last 32.
But a 4-0 defeat to German giants Duisburg in their final group game saw them crash out of the competition by a single goal.
They were three down at the interval and if things had finished that way would have gone through as best runners-up, but with eight minutes remaining they conceded a soft penalty which Simone Laudehr converted.
City Manager Peter Caulfield said, "It is very frustrating to go out by one goal and to have drawn the strongest team in qualification yet again, but we must pick ourselves up and focus on retaining the Premier League title."
