Sauchie star Steven Kiczynski reckons they are still improving with every game despite the late capitulation in the 2-2 with Broxburn last weekend.

The Beechwood Park stopper has gone from strength to strength this season since his move from full back to centre half and he believes there is more still to come from both himself and the team.

Kiczynski told Advertiser sport, “We are still hurting from the Broxburn game and it felt more like a defeat than a draw with the way we capitulated at the end. We have had a few sleepless nights about it but we just have to pick ourselves up and go again.

“Despite the result, it was still a decent performance with some of the football we played and so if we can continue that into this weekend then I’m sure we can pick up a vital three points.

“I feel like we have improved week by week so far this season and hopefully now we can get the results to match our play. We just need to focus on cutting out the silly errors and we will do just fine.

“It just seems at the moment that every small mistake is getting punished but if we can cut that out then hopefully we can go on a wee run now.

“I am pleased with my own form and I feel like I am getting a consistent run with moving to centre back and playing every week and the confidence is growing for me.” The steady defender, who is known to his team mates as ‘Jinky’, is delighted with the squad that manager Fraser Duncan has assembled at the club as some of the new boys have made their mark in recent weeks.

He is now hopeful it can lead to a decent run of form for the Clackmannanshire outfit.

He said, “We have a good squad here and so we know we are well capable of doing well in the league as well as going on a wee run in the Scottish Cup which would be great for everyone at the club but we will see what happens.

“We have strength in the squad now and all the players are getting on great. It has been great to see the new guys doing well now too. Craig scored a superb double and he is very direct which is great to see.

“Danny keeps it simple and looks to beat players then get crosses into the box. Morri is really hitting his stride now too and his goal a few weeks back has done him the world of good.” The former Broxburn defender is grateful of another home tie as they look to make amends for the draw last weekend but he knows that Lochee United will provide a stern test.

Kiczynski added, “The Lochee game getting changed to a home tie gives us another chance to get a win in front of our own fans and build some momentum before the Scottish Cup in a few weeks time.

“Lochee are always difficult opposition and this weekend will be no different, we will need to earn the points but on our own patch we will be looking to win the game.”
