SAUCHIE boss Fraser Duncan has told his troops they have to move on quickly from Saturday’s 5-0 loss at Linlithgow if they are to get their season back on track.

The Beechwood Park side were humbled by the Rose after experiencing what Duncan viewed as a ‘New Year hangover’.

And with the visit from Camelon on the cards this weekend, Sauchie can ill afford to dwell on their last result.

Duncan said: “It’s not a result we were expecting as we had gone into this game with some confidence off the back of our recent displays.

“We started well and in truth we could have been two or three up by the break but we just didn’t have any luck on the day. I thought we went in 2-0 at half time despite being the better side.

“I think there was a bit of a New Year hangover there and in the last 10 or 15 minutes the pace of the game caught up with us.

“Linlithgow got the rub of the green for the first and we could have avoided the second ourselves.

“After the break they got the killer third goal — which for me was never, ever a penalty — and from that there wasn’t really any coming back.

“We were on our knees towards the end of the game and they scored two more goals. It’s simply one to forget to say the least.” Duncan has now set his sights on three points this weekend and has warned his players that any more slip ups will not be well received.

He said: “The Linlithgow result is a hard one to take but the players know they don’t have any time to recover.

“There’s nothing we can do about the Linlithgow result now so we just have to pick ourselves up and go again.

“We have an important game against Camelon this weekend and we have to think we can take maximum points from that.

“We can’t afford any more blips, especially at home. We’ve worked hard to make Beechwood a hard place to come for other teams.

“The players don’t need any more encouragement to beat Camelon. And really, nothing else but a win is acceptable.”
