Fresh from their success in winning the Midlands Bowl, Alloa RFC move on to the National semi-final on Saturday where they host Kinloss Eagles at Earlsfield (kick-off 3pm).

The prize for the winners is massive – a place in the final at Murrayfield against either Cumnock or Ross High (Tranent) on 18 of April.

The Eagles formed as recently as 2012 after the RAF left their Kinloss base and were replaced by the 39th Engineer Regiment. Therefore the visitors to Earlsfield on Saturday will be very much army based supplemented by a few loacals.

Kinloss currently play in the North Division Three and have only lost three league fixtures in the last two seasons.

They also have an impressive record in the Bowl, losing to the eventual winners, Highland, last season and in 2013 they lost out narrowly at this stage of the competition over at Grangemeouth.

Club vice president, Jim Gove, said: “Having played all of our rugby at District Level over past six or seven years, we’re really looking forward to facing up to opposition from a different region on Saturday. Kinloss are an unknown quantity, however we expect nothing less than a physical challenge for the entire eighty minutes.

“The members and friends of Alloa R.F.C. who turned up in such fantastic numbers for the Bowl final will I’m sure be down to support us again this weekend to give us that final push to Murrayfield.

“Only Harris R.F.C. have come away from Earlsfield with a win this season and we’re determined to keep it that way in our final home fixture of the season on Saturday.”
