Bo’ness RFC 1st XV......17
Hillfoots Rams.............43

BT Caledonia League, Division 3 Midlands (South)

HILLFOOTS RAMS travelled to Bo’ness on Saturday for the first ever league match between the two clubs.

The occasion was blessed with a dry pitch and blue skies and the Rams hit the ground running and really put Bo’ness under pressure from the outset.

The Rams pack were providing their pacey backline with quality set piece and phase ball which they put to good use.

With 25 minutes played the Rams were 17-0 up through tries from Connor Wilson, Matt Brolly, Callum Murray and a Conversion by Ryan Butterworth.

To their credit, Bo’ness rallied and their big forwards started to grind their way up the pitch and were rewarded with an unconverted try of their own.

The Rams finished off the first half with Callum Murray scoring his second try of the game.

The second half turned into a bruising encounter with some uncompromising tackling from both teams.

Bo’ness scored another unconverted try to bring them back into the match.

The main difference between the two sides was the pace and handling skills of the Rams backline and this brought another three Rams tries scored by Callum Hamilton, David Davidson and Phil Clements.

Sam Molnar added two conversions. Bo’ness scored a converted try in the dying seconds to bring the game to a close.

This was a hard fought away win for the Rams and will set them up nicely for this week when they welcome Bannockburn RFC to Tillicoultry.

The club has also expressed their thanks to Bo’ness RFC for an excellent match and their post-match hospitality.
