Fraser Duncan admitted that he was once again left frustrated after the adverse weather conditions caused Sauchie’s Super League clash with Broughty to be called off.

However, the two sides will try again this Saturday and the manager says the postponement means his players will be even more prepared for anything their opponents can throw at them as they look to continue their good start to 2016.

He is also hoping that experienced strikers Iain Diack and Darren Cummings, who would have missed out on last Saturday’s game through injury, can be fit enough to play a part.

Duncan told Advertiser Sport: “The weather doesn’t seem to be helping us very much. We just have to keep preparing and making sure we are ready week on week. A lot of games are getting called off but we have to make sure we are ready to go again this week. We know that sometimes in Junior football it will be like this so you have to learn to live with it.

“We had a few injuries at the weekend so it gives us another week to get a couple of them cleared up and get ourselves in a better position. Iain Diack and Darren Cummings were struggling so it gives us a bit more time to get ourselves back on track.

“It is just those two that we are concerned about at the minute. There are no more injuries but Iain might struggle a bit. We are hoping that having another week will give him a chance of being fit. We will try him at training on Thursday and he might even make the bench on Saturday depending on how his groin clears up.”

Duncan revealed he is happy with how his squad is looking but says he would still like to add a striker.

However, the 32-year-old insisted that he would only bring a player to the club if they were a good fit and revealed that he had been close to making a signing in the last week before the deal fell through.

He added: “There have been discussions with a couple of players but as I have said before it needs to be the right player at the right time. There was nearly one addition at the weekend but we have decided against that. If the right player comes up then we will certainly be adding to the squad if we can.

“Adding to the squad might mean that someone has to leave but that is the way it is. Competition is great and we are always looking to add more of that. I think we are maybe still lacking a bit in the forward area so hopefully we will be able to rectify that in the coming weeks, but overall I am happy with the squad at the minute.”
