Sauchie Juniors goalkeeper Jordan Allan believes his side did more than enough to deserve the victory after they drew with the Super League’s bottom club Tayport.

The Wee County side battled back from 2-0 down to claim a point and the stopper reckons the result shows the team spirit in the Sauchie ranks.

Allan told Advertiser Sport: “Going 2-0 down doesn’t help matters, but we started sharp. In the first ten or 15 minutes, we looked good, but we have just switched off for the two goals. The second goal is a decent strike but we have switched off.

“In the last 15 minutes of the first half and in the whole of the second half we were the better team. They maybe had five minutes where they put us under pressure. I thought we did enough to win the game.

“We have been fighting for each other and showing good spirit over the past few weeks. We were 2-1 down against Broughty at half time and came back to win the game.”

Allan has cemented his place in the starting lineup in recent weeks but paid tribute to his fellow keeper Ross Harkness and says there is great competition at the club.

“It’s great for both of us. There is good competition. It is the gaffer’s decision who he wants to play so if both of us are doing well it gives him a bit of a headache. It is the same all over the park. There is competition all over the park so it is a good headache for him to have.

“I am really enjoying it. It is a good club with a good bunch of boys. The manager is brilliant to work for.”

Sauchie are hoping to continue their unbeaten start to the year when Broxburn visit Beechwood Park on Saturday, and Allan says playing in front of their own fans for the first time in several weeks will provide Sauchie with a boost.

He added: “It will be good to finally get a home game. We have been away for the past three weeks. We are unbeaten in our last four so it will be good to try and keep that run going and get the three points.

"I think if we play the way I know we can we can take points off anybody in the league. We have to concentrate on ourselves and take it from there.”
