SAUCHIE Juniors boss Fraser Duncan admits his summer plans are on hold until the club is certain of its place in the Super League East next season.

The Wee County outfit finished their campaign a number of weeks ago, but still have to face a nervy wait to find out if they have done enough to retain their league status for another season with the teams below them in the table still playing catchup.

But the gaffer insists he is ready to move in the transfer market as soon as their fate is determined.

Duncan told Advertiser sport: “We are frantically checking results at the moment and to be fair most of them so far have gone our way. The good thing for us is there are a number of teams still down there struggling and hopefully we might be able to breathe a bit easier after this coming weekend. I have kept the players ticking over in recent weeks, but hopefully our season is over. We have had to hang off in terms planning for the new season until we know our budget.

“I am keen to get ahead of the game in the transfer market so it is a case of playing the waiting game at the minute, but the club and myself have put a number of things in place which will hopefully allow me to do that. Things already look promising for next season in terms of the structures we are putting place so hopefully the club is in a better place next year.”

Duncan has moved quickly to tie up a number of his key players with the likes of skipper Brian Morgan and veteran striker Iain Diack already agreeing new deals and the manager hopes it will be seen as a sign of intend that will allow him to attract fresh blood to the club.

He said: “I am delighted to have the club captain tied up again because he is a key player for us. Iain Diack is going to come in as a player/coach and I feel like that is a great bit of business for us. Not only will he be a big asset on the park for us, but he can now pass on his experience and knowledge to our younger players. Gary McCulloch and Steve Dolan have also signed new deals so now it is just a case of speaking to the rest and trying to tie them up too. We're in a good place at the minute and hopefully once the final ball is kicked this season we are in a position to strengthen the squad quickly.”
