DAVID MORRISON insists Sauchie Juniors will be fired up when they take on Camelon in the Scottish Cup on Saturday.

The midfielder was frustrated to see the clash between the two rivals called off for a second time last weekend.

But he says that will make his team-mates even more determined to seal their passage through to the fourth round.

Morrison told Advertiser Sport: "The fact we've gone without a game for a couple of weeks means the boys are even more up for it.

"Training has been very sharp. We've had match practice in bounce games with the under-19s so sharpness isn't going to be an issue, and everyone is right up for it.

"At this time of year you want to play whenever you can because you know games aren't always going to be on.

"If we win this game we will be in the Scottish Cup until at least after Christmas and that's always one of your aims at the start of the season. We've got a good chance to do that.

"We can look back at last year's cup run for inspiration. We were flying in the league at the time and to be honest we should have probably beaten Glenafton in that quarter-final.

"We are starting to find some good form in the league again so hopefully we can keep moving up the way. It's good to get a cup run going because it keeps that winning mentality."

After a difficult start to the season, Sauchie's form has picked up in recent games and Morrison believes a rock-solid defence has been key.

He said: "We changed a lot of things at the start of the season but we've got a settled team now.

"Getting the defence sorted out has been crucial, and those boys have been outstanding. It gives the players in front of them confidence when you are solid at the back. You know everything is going to be dealt with."

Manager Fraser Duncan is still looking to add a striker to his ranks, and Morrison thinks a new frontman could prove to be the missing piece of the Sauchie jigsaw.

He added: "We've not scored an abundance of goals but we have been getting enough recently.

"We've been creating more chances than we were at the start of the season. It's just a case of bringing someone in who can just stick the ball in the back of the net."
