SAUCHIE ace William Wells reckons that on another day they would have won comfortably after their clash with Forfar West End ended in stalemate.

The winger, who filled in at left-back as a result of Sauchie's injury crisis, reckons his side's performance deserved more.

But he admitted they will have to do better in the final third if they are to pick up points in their remaining Super League games.

Wells told Advertiser Sport: "I thought we played quite well but the end product wasn't there. We had the goal wrongly chopped off for offside as well but that's just the way it goes sometimes. On the whole the team played well and we played some good football.

"0-0 isn't a great result but we'll take one point over nothing. Teams like Forfar will make it difficult for you because they are battling away down at the bottom of the table. But I didn't think they were up to much. We created a few chances and on another day we'd have come away with three points.

"I've played left-back a couple of times at different clubs but it's never really gone to plan before! I thought I did quite well in there. My end product could have been better but I'm happy with my performance."

Sauchie were forced to name no less than six teenagers in their matchday squad, and Wells was impressed by the performances of some of the club's young stars.

He said: "We had a few of the young boys playing and although they had an under-19s game earlier in the day, they did well. I was quite impressed with them. Adam Green came in centre-back for his first game and looked comfortable. He played very well. The back four as a whole looked pretty solid."

Sauchie face a quick turnaround ahead of Wednesday evening's clash with Newtongrange Star, and Wells is hoping the club's injury crisis is eased before the encounter at Beechwood Park.

He added: "We could do with a few boys coming back from injury in time for Wednesday. Stuart Bell is obviously out which is a blow but I'm not sure how close the rest of the boys are. If we get one or two bodies back we will be absolutely fine."
