TILLICOULTRY’S Richie Maxwell has collected the keys to a brand new vehicle after being named Britain’s Top Tradesperson 2016.

Earlier this year, the bricklayer beat thousands of entries in the competition at the grand final organised by retailer Screwfix.

He has now received the keys to the top prize: a Toyota Hilux worth around £32,000

Richie, 30, said: “Owning a brand new Toyota truck will completely transform my business and I can’t wait to take it out on the road.

“Whilst it’s great to win the vehicle, the title itself has helped to boost my company profile and is a real seal of approval for future customers to give them reassurance.

“There’s nothing else out there like this competition for tradespeople and I’m delighted to have been named the best in the country.”

Richie, who trades under the name RDM Elite Builders Ltd, comes from a family of brickies. It was his enthusiasm, skills and willingness to go the extra mile for customers that impressed a panel of judges made up of industry experts.

John Mewett, marketing director for Screwfix, added: “Richie showed us that bricklaying is in his blood, and really impressed us with his honesty, integrity and the way in which he runs his business.

“We hope he enjoys his new vehicle and that the title helps his business to go from strength to strength.”
