THIEVES broke into the Red Lion in Tillicoultry at the weekend, swiping the pub’s takings just a week before Christmas.

At least two people are thought to have been involved in theft, with both being captured on CCTV security footage.

The incident took place during the early hours of Monday morning, with bosses saying they “firmly believe” a member of their clientele is the likely perpetrator.

They have also offered a £200 cash reward for any information that helps to track down those responsible.

Police are continuing their investigation and have also made a public appeal this week.

PC Nikki Pullar at Alloa Police Office said: “At around 1am on December 19, two people broke in to the Red Lion public house and stole a quantity of property.

“Inquiries are ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to get in touch with police by calling 101.”

The pub say the theft has put the future of the business at risk and have even set up a dedicated email address for anyone who can help.

A message on the pub’s Facebook page read: “The Red Lion bar, Tillicoultry, was broken into on the early morning of the December 19, at 12:27am.

“Two people gained access to the property and robbed it of the takings. We firmly believe these people are not only local, but know and possibly even drink in the premises.

“This robbery has placed the business at risk from closure which could lead to local people losing their jobs.

“We are now asking for the local community’s help and support to bring these people to justice.

“We are offering a cash reward of £200 for information that leads to the arrest of one or more of the people who committed this crime. We believe the people will be well known in the local area.”

Anyone wishing to pass on information can do so by calling police on 101 or emailing the pub direct at redlionbreakin@outlook.com
