A WEE County mum has organised a fundraiser to show her appreciation for the support her son has received.

Claire Clark, from Alva, is appealing for donations and raffle prizes for a curryoake night that she will hold on Friday, April 28.

She is aiming to raise money for Tillicoultry nursery, as a thank-you for their hard work and dedication.

Her three-year-old, Blair Harrison, is developmentally delayed and cannot walk or talk.

He started attending the nursery in around January and, since then, Claire has noticed a “massive difference” in him.

As a way to demonstrate her gratitude, she has arranged the event at Alva Tandoori which will feature curry and karaoke.

She said:“It's just to show my appreciation to the staff – just to the nursery really – because they have been amazing.

“I just feel they helped Blair so much in finding his... own little personality and just helped him try and grow up a wee bit.”

Blair attends a session at the nursery for pre-school children and has benefited from the purchase of a chair and sensory equipment.

Claire has noticed improvements in his progression and is grateful to the understanding staff for their support.

She said: “He has got more want to do things. Not that he didn't want to do things, just he wants to be more independent.

“It's changed him quite a lot – he wants to try and feed himself now.

“The nursery has been a really, really good thing for him.”

Claire would like to raise money for the nursery, to allow them to continue with their work.

She also believes funding will allow them to purchase items they think will help the youngsters.

She said: “They know the children – they see them there every single day.

“If they feel that these children would benefit from things, they have got the funding there to go and do it.”

She is keen for people to get in touch with donations and raffle prizes that she can use for the cause.
