DOG owners and their pets will be dashing through the streets during a Christmas fancy dress fundraiser.

An event in the Wee County will help a charity care for and re-home greyhounds and ex-working dogs.

Everyone is welcome to get involved in the trek for the Stirling based Help a Hound, that will take them from Alloa to Tillicoultry.

Next month's fundraiser, which will include a best dressed dog competition, has been organised by volunteer Kirsten Kelbie.

The 29-year-old, from Callander, said: "We had various events taking place in Clacks and our most recent one coming up is our walk.

"We are passionate about the work we do and want to make a difference to the lives of hounds.

"People can get involved by coming along to the walk, or by contacting us via Facebook or email."

The charity was set-up by Meg Reynolds when she was at university and now she dedicates all of her time to it.

Its mission is to find loving forever homes for as many ex-working dogs as possible.

Kirsten first got involved after adopting, she said: "I am one of the few volunteers Help a Hound has; I have a lot of love for hounds.

"Events like this are crucial to the running of help a hound – funding is always a challenge and every little we can raise really helps.

"One hundred per cent of the donations go directly to the dogs, as every volunteer gives their time freely including Meg who works full time seven days a week there."

The Wee County event takes place on Saturday, December 16, starting at 1pm with a meeting point of Alloa train station.
