A FRIEND of a man murdered by his brother on New Year's day is to take on a gruelling race in his memory.

Cameron Logan, 23, died after being set on fire by his older brother Blair at their home in Milngavie.

Cameron's girlfriend Rebecca Williams, 25, was seriously injured in the blaze but survived.

Ryan Hendry-Cockburn, who was a close friend of the late 23-year-old, is planning to run a half marathon to raise cash for the Burns Unit at Gartnavel.

In an online crowdfunding page, Mr Hendry-Cockburn said: " On the 24th of September I will be running the Edinburgh half marathon and raising money for the Burns Unit at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary in memory of my friend Cameron Logan.

"The great work from the staff at the Burns Unit has been made more apparent to me this year and it is something that I will be ever grateful for.

"I would like to therefore raise as much money as possible for this great cause."

He told Heart radio that he was raising money for the burns unit because it saved Rebecca's life, and added: " I know for a fact it's something Cameron will be forever grateful for."

He also said that Cameron was "always the life of social events" and added: "All of my friends are going to miss him greatly."

In August this year, Blair Logan, 27, was sentenced to spend life behind bars, with a minimum of 20 years to be served before he would be considered for parole.
