AN ANNUAL Christmas event was enjoyed by nearly 200 elderly people in Tullibody.

Tullibody Healthy Living (THL) held this year’s party over two days with around 180 older adults tucking into a freshly prepared Christmas meal.

Donna McLean, event organiser, said: “The feedback has been fantastic with comments on our Facebook pictures from relatives around the world and seeing people I only see once a year singing jingle bells and catching up with friends in their local community.

“All our volunteers do a great job and our partnerships with schools, businesses and local organisations ensures everyone enjoys themselves.”

The meal was prepared by the organisation’s Fruit Barra Team and was served by volunteers as well as youngsters from Lornshill Academy and St Modan’s High School in Stirling.

Pupils from St Serf’s and Banchory primary schools provided the entertainment, followed by Alex Knox’s ‘Singing for Memories’ with the whole room joining in.

Soup, potatoes and vegetables for the lunch were donated by Alloa’s Central Produce and THL’s Fruit Barra, who also provided oranges for goodie bags to take away.

Ingredients for the steak pie were kindly given by Tullibody, Cambus & Glenochil Community Council, while Tron Barbers supplied the dessert.

Clackmannanshire Council’s Fuel Team, carers, Trading Standards and community wardens were all on hand to provide advice on a range of issues alongside Home Energy Scotland and Living it Up.
