Spring clean for Tullibody pond

Adults and children rallied around on Saturday in a bid to clean the local area.

They removed piles of rubbish from the Delph Pond and the Delph Woods, improving the nature spot and environment for wildlife and visitors.

Families came together to do their bit for the town and were rewarded with tasty snacks provided by Tullibody Healthy Living.

Janette McGowan, chair of the forum, thanked everyone for their hard work during the afternoon.

She hoped the community enjoyed the event and that they were happy with the end result.

She said: “I was really pleased that so many folk came along and joined in.

“It was great to see the kids so interested in the local wildlife and looking after the local wildlife.

“It was also great to see our interpretation panel repaired and back in place.

“I would like to thank the local community for coming along and getting involved.”

Laura Robertson, police wildlife officer, had the children engrossed with her wildlife specimens, while Pauline, of Party Face Painting, had a constant queue of youngsters awaiting butterflies, bees and batman designs.

Over at the kids’ corner, hosted by Josie Clark, everyone was busy drawing and completing wildlife quizzes.

The forum was fortunate to receive funding from Volunteer Scotland, Coalfields Regeneration and the CTSi community fund to help purchase litter-picking equipment, a new shelter and cover the costs of the event activities.

It is grateful to Keep Scotland Beautiful for the clean-up pack and the Poop Scoop Pup visit.

Tullibody Community Development Trust also went along on the day to lend a hand and sign up new members for the drive to save the civic centre and park drive.

The forum comprises local residents’ groups, heritage group, youth services, Police Scotland, land services and the Tullibody, Cambus & Glenochil Community Council.

It was established more than 10 years ago and the next event will be in September.
