Elin's first studio Christmas sale
GLASS artist Elin Isaksson will be selling her unique range of hand blown glass bowls, vases, Christmas baubles and cast glass fish at her first studio Christmas Sale taking place on 11 and 12 December 2010.
She opened her new hot glass studio in Alloa Makers Village in August, with funding from Clackmannanshire Council and Creative Scotland (formerly Scottish Arts Council). In recognition of this exciting new venture she has created the exclusive Alloa droplet, available only from her studio.
Elin is inspired by the play of light, texture and movement in nature, creating sculptural forms which echo different times of year. Her distinctive Snow and Igloo bowls capture the gentle colours of winter and snowstorms, experienced during her trips to her homeland of Sweden.
She moved to Scotland to study glass at Edinburgh College of Art, graduating with a Master of Design in 2005, spending two years as artist in residence. In addition to developing experience by working with other international glass artists she has exhibited across the UK and Sweden, including two shows at the National Museum of Scotland.
At her Christmas Sale she promises a glass of mulled wine and tempting Christmas discounts with prices starting from £10.
Elin has also started running monthly one-day workshops which have proven very popular. They offer the chance for anyone to try being creative with glass as they each make a paperweight, bowl or vase, and try blowing a tumbler. Gift vouchers are now available which make the ideal Christmas gift.
The Christmas Sale takes place on 11 and 12 December at Elin Isaksson Glass, Unit 1, Alloa Maker's Village, Ludgate FK10 2DE, Alloa, open 11am-4pm each day.
