Drama at dinner
DOLLAR Drama Club will begin its three-night theatre dinner run across the Hillfoots on Saturday.
'Bang, You're Dead' will be performed in the Castle Campbell Hotel, Dollar on 4 June before moving to Broomhall Castle in Menstrie and then the Harviestoun Hotel, Tillicoultry, the following Friday and Saturday respectively.
Directed by Elaine Payne, the comedy thriller written by Paul Reakes stars Dollar stalwarts Jane McGill, Byron Tilly, Alison Sangster and Charles Bell.
The one-act play will be performed following the main meal but will break at a "strategic moment" to allow guests time to guess the end for a prize before resuming after dessert.
Elaine said, "People can mull over what is going to happen. It's fun and gives them a little bit of involvement that way rather than a straight forward play run. The actors will then come out and perform the last 15 minutes."
The performances will showcase the drama club - the only one in the Hillfoots - and show that theatre doesn't always have to be Shakespeare and Chekhov.
She went on, "We are the only drama club in the Hillfoots and not a lot of people are aware of us as we are based in Dollar.
"With these theatre dinners we wanted to spread ourselves out, let people know about us and hopefully gain some new members."
Anyone interested in booking a place should contact the hotels.
