Ahead of their performance at Strange Behaviours, Something, Someone’s Morgan Woods spoke to the Advertiser.

Morgan (vocals/bass), who lives in Alloa, formed the band after coming across Joe Djaelani (vocals/guitar) on Gumtree and Rachel Elliot (vocals/fiddle) on Facebook.

If you like your folk music with a kick, then you'll love Something Someone's toe-tapping melodies. Morgan Woods' chocolate-smooth vocals are a treat on the ear, complemented by Joe Djaelani's fine finger-picking guitar and Rachel Elliot's flawless fiddling. The trio's burst of harmonies swirl together beautifully, creating a magical musical delight.

Are you excited about your Tolbooth gig?

Yes, we’re really excited. The Tolbooth is a beautiful venue. The line-up looks great and Kenny, the guy who is organising it, is really great to work with.

What do you like about performing live?

I love the buzz I get from it. The atmosphere and the stage banter is always fun. Anything can happen on stage, you’ve just got to roll with it, which can be interesting.

What do you like about recording in a studio?

There’s a lot of room to experiment with instrumentation and it’s just really nice to hear a song once it’s the finished product because I’ve seen it grow and become something more than some words scribbled on a piece of paper.

What can audiences expect from your set if they haven’t seen you in action before?

We always try to put on a high-energy performance for every gig. You’ll normally get some banter and bad jokes in between songs. Joe and Rachel are two fantastic musicians. Joe’s guitar playing and singing is fantastic and Rachel is an unbelievable fiddle player with some lovely harmonies.

What’s been the highlight of your career so far?

Tough question. I’d probably say just getting to play and release my own music – which is quite a broad answer, but it’s hard to pin point.

Where do you find inspiration to write your own material?

Mainly things that happen in my life. Dreams are always a good place for inspiration because they’re unlimited.

What’s your plans for the next 12 months?

We have big plans, but you’ll just have to keep an eye out to find out more.
