THE Whistlebinkies will be playing in Clackmannanshire this weekend.

They have toured the world with their own brand of authentic Scottish traditional music and will be in concert at the Gibson Hall, Dollar Academy, on Saturday 21 February, as part of the Music in Dollar season.

The group uses acoustic instruments arranged to complement each other including Scottish lowland and smallpipes, fiddle, flute, concertina, bass, percussion (Scottish style side drumming and bodhran) and the clarsach (Celtic harp).

Their music comes from all parts of the country: airs from the far west archipelago of St Kilda, Border ballad melodies, Shetland reels and song tunes from the land of Burns, Ayrshire.

The concert will last around two hours, wine and soft drinks will be served during the interval, doors open at 7pm with the music beginning at 7.30pm.

Tickets cost £10 per adults, and are available on the door, while accompanied children are admitted free.

Members of the society receive a substantial discount on tickets for all the season’s concerts and membership costs £5 per person.
